Sussex Auto Parts have for some time been building a reputation
in the High Performance market as a class act. We have sponsored various drivers
over the years and currently help Kiwi Kev Taylor in his CRAP Conversions Ford
Capri (see pic right). Our built to order high stall torque converters are rapidly
gaining a reputation around Britain’s tracks as the one to have!

OUR PROVEN RACE
CONVERTERS:
The heart of the Sussex Race Converters is a high-quality,
forged steel front cover.
These forged covers allow Sussex engineers to add
material to the cover in order to prevent destructive ballooning and cracking
common to OEM-style stamped covers.
The covers are designed to use smaller
diameter GM 245 (9 ½") converter cores which are plentiful and were
manufactured by GM in a tremendous range of varieties.
The smaller converter
diameter along with the various impeller/stator combinations available, allows
Sussex Autos to provide highly efficient custom stall speed converters without
power-robbing and heat-generating modifications.
Don’t watch your valuable
horsepower disappear as heat from your transmission cooler!
The other
kit components are no less impressive. One-piece 4132 Chrome-moly impeller hubs
with integral anti-ballooning plates control ballooning at the pump end while
strengthening the converter impeller. The impeller hubs are also hardened to provide
increased strength and long-life resistance to wear from bushings and seals. Turbine
hubs are 4130 Chrome-moly with induction hardened splines and bushing journals.
The front cover bushing design provides high RPM turbine stability and tighter
clearances, while the large diameter welded flange greatly increases the strength
of the turbine. Both the impeller and turbine hubs are designed with special oiling
features to reduce converter temperatures, prevent “hot spots”, and provide superior
lubrication to bearing and bushings.
